7 Connect the water supply lines to the lines attached to the tap and tighten them with adjustable wrenches. Turn the water supply back on. Turn the tap on and check the connections for leaks. Turn the tap off and wipe off any excess putty on the deck plate.

2 Raise the vehicle using a jack and support it securely on jack stands to access the fuel pump. Use a screwdriver, wrench or fuel line removal tool to disconnect the fuel line on the outlet port of the fuel pump. Beware of spraying or leaking fuel when disconnecting the fuel line.
3 Turn the check valve Bibcock in the end of the fuel pump counterclockwise with an open-end wrench until it can be removed from the pump. Blow compressed air through both ends of the check valve. Verify that air can only travel through the check valve in one direction and is completely blocked in the other direction. Replace the check valve if air can pass through it in both directions.
4 Thread the old, or new if necessary, check valve into the pump and turn it clockwise until it’s finger tight. Turn the check valve an additional 1/4 turn clockwise with an open-end wrench. Reconnect and tighten the fuel lines. Raise the vehicle with a jack, remove the jack stands and lower the vehicle to the ground. Remove the wheel chocks.
5 Reinstall the fuel pump fuse and start the vehicle. Allow the vehicle to run until the radiator fan cycles on and off. Turn off the vehicle. Check the fuel lines for leaks and tighten any leaking connections. Wait 10 minutes and start the car. Check the fuel system for proper operation. Continue troubleshooting the fuel system if the check valve functions correctly but a problem still exists.

Brass Gas Valve control the flow of natural gas that moves from a gas main line to a furnace. As of 2010, most new gas furnaces come equipped with natural gas valves. When a furnace is installed, the natural gas valve is calibrated so it properly senses the amount of gas, called gas pressure, that the natural gas lines are supplying it with.The gas valve receives a signal from the gas furnace control board or module. This small computer tells the gas valve what the gas pressure is. The control board closes the safety switches in the furnace safety circuit and readies the main burner for firing. The control board then sends a signal that tells the valve to open so gas can reach the manifold and main burner.
1 Switch off the electrical power and the main gas line.
2 Remove the gas input from the furnace with the wrench. Smell for any gas odor. If you detect gas either by smell or if you feel gas coming out of the pipe, re-attach the input to the valve, leave the electrical switched off and call a professional.
3 Unplug the wiring harness from the old valve. Place the pipe wrench on the flange or port where you disconnected the incoming gas. Rotate the valve counter-clockwise to remove it from the output pipe. Set the old valve aside.
4 Install flange adapters if the replacement valve’s input and output ports do not match the size of the input and output pipes. Insert the O-ring in the flange groove; the O-ring faces the valve. Use the included hex screws to attach the flange to the valve. Repeat for the other port if necessary.
5 Note the “Outlet” marking on the top of the Brass Gate Valve. Orient the valve so that the outlet port on the valve lines up with the outlet pipe for the furnace or water heater. Apply pipe compound to the threads of the outlet pipe on all but the last two threads so that the threads that first touch the valve have no pipe compound on them.
6 Turn the valve clockwise onto the pipe with the pipe wrench. Place the wrench on either the flange or the square valve casing where the flange would attach. Tighten the valve in place.
7 Connect the input pipe to the input port on the valve. Apply pipe compound in the same way to the threads of the input pipe. Twist the input pipe clockwise into the input on the valve until it is tight.
8 Mix the dish soap with water and brush it on to the connections. Turn on the gas and look for bubbles in the soap. If there are any bubbles, tighten the connections. Continue until there are no bubbles showing. Wipe off the pipes and the valve.
9 Plug in the wiring harness and switch on the power. Switch the valve into the “On” position. Light the pilot light per the instructions for your furnace or water heater.
